Collage Zine Workshop (ages 13-16)

What

This is a free collage and zine workshop for 13-16 year olds. In this creative session, you'll assemble images for a zine that will accompany an electronic music concert. Some of the work will even be used for the projections of the concert.

When

The workshop takes place this Sunday 19 November at Penryn Temperance Hall. There are two sessions and you can choose to attend one or both of them: 10:30am - 12:30pm and 1:15pm - 3:15pm. You are welcome to bring a lunch if you need to stay between sessions.

FREE Collage Zine Workshop!

Come and make zines and collages with us at Penryn Temperance Hall this Sunday!

During this hands on workshop, attendees will join in the endlessly creative process of making collages using cutouts and text, taking influence from the styles of dadaism, surrealism and pop art. They will turn these collages into zines by giving their work a constant thread – a theme, a recurring image, a piece of text. But there’s more: The zines will be used to accompany an upcoming concert by our Electronic Music Ensembles (part of the Cornwall Youth Noise Orchestra), and at that concert images used will be made into live visuals which will form the backdrop to the event. Text used in the collages will come from interviews with the performers of the ensembles.

The free workshop is for 13-16 year olds and will be led by artist Matt Ashdown who has had commissions with Tate and Newlyn Art Gallery, and music writer Dave Waller who has written for likes of The Times and We Jazz. There are two sessions, and attendees can attend one or both sessions (please bring lunch if you are planning to stay in the space in-between sessions).
