Community PA and Sound Engineer Hire
Price: £300 (+ food rider)
Thanks to a donation, we’re delighted to offer an affordable hire package for the community that includes a PA and sound engineer for £300 (6 hours from load in to load out). It’s suitable for concerts of up to approximately 150 people. This offer is intended to:
- Support artists/bands, promotors and small venues in Cornwall by helping to spread pay and profit fairly and sustainably
- Support new music of any genre, and engagement with experimental compositions in Cornwall
Equipment list:
- 2 x ART 715-A active speakers (1400W each) + speaker stands
- 1 x 16 channel mixing desk
- Up to three monitors depending on requirements
- DI boxes, stagebox, cables, extension cables (for PA only)
- Vocal, instrument and drum mics (Shure, AKG etc)
On enquiry, we can also offer 2 x FBT HiMaxx 100Sa subwoofers (starting price: £60 for the pair)
Eligibility
Our package is designed make room in budgets so that pay and profits are spread fairly. To be eligible to hire this package:
- The event must be in or near Penryn, Falmouth, Redruth or Truro
- The event must either be a concert of artists/bands performing original music OR a performance of contemporary classical works (dependent on tech requirements)
- Promoters (including venue/artist acting as the promoter) should have a fair pay policy or commit to guidelines by Musician’s Union, including fair pay and a reasonable food and drinks rider for all artists on the bill.
How to Apply
To apply to use the hire the community PA and sound engineer package, please email matt@moogiewonderland.co.uk with the following details:
- Date and time of event (including load in and load out)
- Location
- Names of artists on the bill
- Confirmation that the event is the performance of original music OR a performance of electronic contemporary classical works
- If you are a promoter (or venue/artist acting as promoter), confirmation that you have a fair pay policy or commit to guidelines by Musician’s Union
- Tech specs (if already available)

FAQs
Q: What is the cost for an all-dayer?
A: It depends on the length (including setup), but the rate scales down.
Q: I have my own sound engineer; can I hire the PA separately?
A: Our PA is used for several community projects so we need to use our own team to make sure it is kept in excellent condition. Our excellent sound engineer is very experienced and well reputed for live sound in the area.
Q: Why do I need to give the sound engineer a rider?
A: With demanding hours, providing healthy food and drinks means sound engineers can keep up their energy and stay focused, and supports good wellbeing. We want to instil best practice.
Q: Why isn’t this offer available for cover bands, weddings, or corporate events?
A: This is beyond the scope of Moogie Wonderland’s community aims.
