Exploration Sessions

What

Independent use of the Laboratory for Electronic Music’s instruments and facilities, with informal guidance available.

When

Saturdays: 10:00 – 12:00 & 12:00 – 14:00

Explore the Laboratory of Electronic Music’s collection of modular synthesisers, drum machines, samplers, sequencers and other electronic music equipment in a calm, creative environment.

Whether you’re developing your own ideas, trying a new instrument, comparing different equipment or simply spending time experimenting, Exploration Sessions give you access to the Laboratory and its facilities at your own pace.

Exploration Sessions don’t include structured lessons. Instead, they provide access to the Laboratory’s equipment, with knowledgeable staff available throughout the session to answer questions, demonstrate equipment, provide manuals and offer informal guidance whenever you’d like it.

The level of support is entirely up to you. Some participants spend most of their session exploring independently, while others occasionally ask for guidance with particular modules, instruments or techniques before continuing with their own experimentation.

Suitable for complete beginners through to experienced electronic musicians. No equipment or previous experience is required.
